life is a long and difficult journey…be sure to stop now and then for a little snack

Dear Friends!

I am sure you have heard the saying “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired”….well here I am.  More exactly, for me, I am more like “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” (which is also the title of an awesome documentary journal by Joe Cross).  I am 48 years old and the last 4 years of my life, my health has been in a downhill spiral; unbeknownst to me, some of it has been my own doing…some has been because of modern medicine…and some of it is because it is.  I will be going into more detail in the days to come, but the major ailments that I have been facing over the past 4 years are:  a tumor inside of my heart, 2 large tumors in my abdomen, bowel obstructions, stage 2 Lymphedema, sleep apnea, ADD, morbid obesity, breathing issues, IBS and as you can imagine, multiple surgeries (as well as ongoing physical therapy).

Although I have spent plenty of time on my knees praying, I have also spent way too much time feeling sorry for myself.  OK, I have also spent a lot of time “pushing through the pain” but in doing so, I have actually made my health worse because I didn’t attack the problem, but just masked it over so that I could function from one “event” to another (only to completely “crash” the days in between), therefore doing my body more harm than good.  Yea, I am stubborn…I can blame that on my heritage…I am 1/2 Sicilian and 1/2 Irish.  But alas, it is more of just my personality.  I have always been the kind of person that when I was “told” by someone that I couldn’t do something, well, that was exactly what I was going to do!  Don’t tell me I can’t do something!  Well, that being said, the past 18 months or so,  I have allowed negativity to enter my mind and I have allowed my illness to start running my life and that of my family (as you know, Momma is the center of most families 🙂  And I am well past time for me to take control of my life again…I want restored health not only for myself, but for my family and I want this for you too!  No matter what unhealthy circumstance you are facing, as we all have similar, but different, roads to travel, I would love to see us travel our own roads together.

I’m not a certified anything, but I am really good at sharing what has worked for me.  My primary purpose in writing this very public journal is to share my heart and my journey to restorative with you in the hope that it might inspire you to seek restored health, as well.  Like many of you, I find lots of great stuff out there related to nutritionally-based healing, healthy living, general health and fitness, stress reduction, and I LOVE to share it with people that are interested in learning and growing like I am. For the past few months leading up to today, I have been following several blogs  and they have helped me in many, many ways. I truly hope my blog helps you in your journey and from it you gather inspiration for your own life.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about me; I look forward to hearing from you soon! :-)

Love & Blessings,
